Socs,
Many people, mostly religious ones, are quick to judge homosexuality. What answer would you give to them?
Katie
Socs: Whew! I thought you were going to ask me about something controversial like gossip or greed. Let’s just consider a neutral one like gender definition. Oh, sure.
Homosexuality is a sensitive issue, but the reaction to it is of equal sensitive importance. Take for instance, me. I love mice and I also love human beings. Guys like or love guys and girls love girls. I don’t see any problem in this. Love is a feeling that is needed in the world of mice and humans.
The problem can be the difference between what a person feels and what a person does.
I like cheese, even love cheese. But if it’s located in a mouse trap, my action to go for that temptation may not be wise. What I decide to do will have consequences. That goes for humans also.
Behavior can be chosen, adapted, decided. Restraint of destructive desires is logical.
Some of these tender topics bring major push back. There is a need to think through the positions. We can disagree, but each person should correctly understand the opposing opinion. This requires the ability to listen, weigh, and consider. I am all for loving feelings and discussion, but very slow to promote actions that bring harmful consequences.
I have not traveled extensively through many books on
homosexuality or gender identity, but I do have the opportunity, every so
often, to chew through the neighbor’s newspaper. So, to date, here is my
limited thinking: If the general public
accepts the theory of evolution, what is the future of the human race if
homosexuality is a norm? Questions like these need further exploration on my part.
As an aside, since my latest travel into a book was biblical, it is evident that both heterosexual (outside of marriage) and homosexual actions are condemned. One is no greater or lesser than the other. The reason for the no-no's seems related to the possible damage of, or the destructiveness to, humans.
I would need to take a return trip to gather more information and if the topic comes up again, I will address it in a future blog. With questions like this I am reminded of why I prefer to spend much of my time inside books.
